Martin Patricio Barrios es “El Marto”.
Nació cerca del río de La Plata. Dibujó, pintó, sacó fotos; asó carne de res, de cerdo, no de pescado. Mintió. Fue de acá para allá y un poco más allá; a la cancha de Gimnasia y a otras. A donde hubiera mar.
Profesor en cuatro universidades, investigador, no piloto. Quería ser piloto y todavía quisiera. Demostró dificultades para pertenecer y facilidades para ir por el borde.
Tuvo perros. Tuvo vértigo. Regó plantas. Perdió discusiones y paraguas. Perdió todas las peleas callejeras en los últimos 25 años.
Ganó poco y nada. Trabajó menos. Miró por la ventana y tomó un poco de whisky sin hielo en vaso de tequila.
Dejó de creer en el dibujo, en la arquitectura, en la importancia de algunas cosas. Dejó de fumar con pesar y nostalgia de buey. Añora fumar. Añora el viento del río y treparse a un avión que vaya a cualquier lado. Añora fumar en los aviones, fumar en los bares, a la mañana mientras prepara el mate. Añora fumar. Ama los lápices checos, las lapiceras alemanas, los relojes finlandeses, las zapatillas rojas, los anteojos rojos, su teléfono touch, mirar los mapas, hablar de más, escuchar de menos. Se vió obligado a pelear con mozos y operadores de call center y a mentir a los taxistas.
Prefirió no usar medias ni almohadas y odiar los perfumes. No entiende las películas.
Todavía cree que una buena carta termina así: “ojalá que tengas la mejor luna, la mejor tierra, la mejor paz. Soy Martin.”
